Drawing Of The Three- Stephen King

This project has finally come together after months of finessing the final design.   This book was nearly two years from start to finish and believe it or not, this was much harder to figure out than Gunslinger was!  The Solander Box takes you through the doors, in order, with the names of the doors highlighted in a fashion that reflects the relevant decade of the last century in which each is set.

The engineering that forms part of this box has taken hours to perfect with an element of surprise at the end.   The Solander Box is made of 3mm board with a black goatskin cover and kashgar silk sides, and lined with black suede-effect material. The quote from the book brings into play the fearsome lobstrosity which also appears gold blocked on the back of the box.

The first door, 1980s teak veneered with a brass handle, The Prisoner, has original, bespoke graffiti on the inside. The second door, 1960s, has prismatic Perspex to mirror an internal door of that period, with the final double doors, The Pusher, illustrating the geometric patterns and clashing colours so popular in the 1970s. The book is cased in black goatskin, over-blocked with the twinkling gold lights of the New York skyline. The book has been gilded gold to three edges to draw these elements together, with unique, hand-marbled endpapers by Freya Scott.

Everything has been done by hand at Ludlow Bookbinders, where hand craft bookbinding is thriving. In case it is of interest, there are over 85 individual operations that go in to create the box and the book. Simply mind-blowing work by the team at Ludlow. Indy will use NO OTHER book binder for the work on these books.

To keep everything protected in transit, because carriers are notoriously rough with handling packages, we have added small rectangles of black foam between the doors. These can be removed once the books are with the end user.
Thank you for everything and enjoy this masterpiece in literary art.
